Our Aims
WE G.R.O.W.’s objectives are to support people recovering from substance misuse through horticultural activities, group work and one-to-ones; to provide voluntary work and a place of respite; to prevent social isolation and build on self-esteem and confidence.

Volunteers
The charity currently employs a number of volunteers in a variety of roles including growing vegetables and flowers and making up hanging baskets. It’s not just about horticultural work, WE G.R.O.W. also employs committee members, people to carry out admin tasks and generally to help out/get involved.
Some of the current volunteers are in work, but many are not and may lack the relationships and structure that a regular work routine provides. Involvement in the market garden can offer people the satisfaction that comes from gainful use of time, as well as positive outdoor activity. Where appropriate, volunteers can be supported into suitable employment opportunities using the skills and knowledge gained from participation. They are also offered one-to-one support as well as a support group.

Family Members involvement
We also hold a weekly support group every Tuesday from 3.30pm to 5.00pm in the hospitality room at Woodbank. This is a friendly and welcoming group attended both by people who have been abstinent for years as well as people who are new to treatment. This mix of people offers both peer support as well as swapping advice with like-minded people with similar experiences.
